Hello parents / carers! Your child's school has started to use Pobble: a safe, global writing platform. In this article, we’ll tell you all about:
2. How Pobble will benefit your child
How does it work?
i) Publishing
Pobble is an educational platform, designed by and for teachers to help improve children’s writing ability. Every week, your child's teacher will select “publis
hed authors”. Their work will be shared with the school community and a global audience. We ask you to join your child on this learning journey.
ii) Pupil login.
When your child is added to Pobble by their school, a four digit passcode is generated. This is stored under the teacher's account. The teacher can then distribute this passcode to your child and they can use this to log in as a pupil on via our homepage. Here, they can browse our fantastic writing prompts, leave comments on other children's work and more!

You do not need to create an account for your child under 'Teacher sign in'.
How Pobble will benefit your child.
Every day, thousands of teachers use Pobble with their class. Reading another child's work might spark inspiration. Self and peer assessment support learning. An authentic audience provides a purpose and builds self-esteem. Reliable teacher assessment improves feedback.
In schools that use Pobble, attainment improves, children are more excited about learning and parents feel more involved. If you’d like to see some of the evidence, or know more about the research behind our approach read our research paper.

What can you do?
We're parents ourselves. If you're like us, you will want to get involved in your child's learning journey. At this point, you might be wondering how?
1. Provide permission for your child
When your school starts using Pobble, you will receive a letter or communication from them asking you whether you want your child to have their work published. If you consent, your child’s work may be published by your child’s teacher on your school’s online writing celebration page.
2. Encourage your child to use their pupil login
Explore all the resources on offer!
3. Connect to your child's account
Next, you can sign up for your own Pobble account. It will be linked to your child's. Here's how.
4. Read and comment on your child's work
When your child's work is published on Pobble, they will be very excited. You will receive an email when this happens. Remember to leave a comment, because yours are the most important of all!
5. Read and leave comments together using the pupil's account.
With their pupil account your child can leave comments on other children's work. You could access Pobble together at home. Here are some tips on how to leave a great comment.

What you might ask us?
Over the years, parents have asked us many questions, and rightly so. Here are some of the most common ones. For any others, don't hesitate to contact us on hello@pobble.com.
Is Pobble safe?
Yes. Safety is our top concern. We have dedicated a section in our FAQ to e-safety and how we ensure it.
Am I giving away the ownership of my child's work?
No. You and your child remain the owners of any pieces of work shared on Pobble. Under our terms, we are granted a license to use the work. This is needed because Pobble is a paid for service: this way it’s clearly defined that we can use content shared on our platform for the benefit of other users.
Do you sell my information to third parties?
No. We will only disclose your information to third parties in very exceptional cases. This could be, for example, when the company changes ownership, or when we are under legal obligation.
Are there advertisements on Pobble?
No. Most schools pay to use Pobble, allowing us to keep the platform entirely free from advertisements.
Is Pobble encouraging competition?
No. We have designed Pobble to encourage celebration, not competition. We're on a mission to build an inclusive platform that benefits of all levels and abilities. We also provide teacher training and teaching materials to ensure the platform is used in the right way.
Can I remove content from Pobble?
Yes. It's very easy to remove any content (work or comments) that you would prefer not to be on there.
What if I don't want my child to take part? Now, or later?
You might decide you don't want your child to participate in Pobble. In that case, decline permission when you are invited. However, you might want to give it a try as you can always revoke permission on your Pobble profile. If all else fails, contact your class teacher or get in touch directly with us via hello@pobble.com.
Want to do more at home?
If being part of your child's writing has been good for both of you, you can keep that going outside of school with Pobble Home.
It's a separate subscription built for families, with picture prompts to get started, simple guidance so you know what to say, and a secure space to save everything your child writes. Your job isn't to teach, it's just to be there and be interested.
